One of my final pieces for my Self Portrait project in A-level Art. I am quite happy with the way this came out.

materials: charcoal on watercolour paper.

any feedback would be greatly welcomed.

edit 11/03/07: slight edit to some of the shading and the tones around the ear thanks to people's comments.

good composition, however the ear lobe bothers me because it is such an odd shape, it looks quite out of place. elf ears, right? i'd still round it off realistically because it sticks out too much looks bad. sharpen up the edge along her neck in the center. the center of this pic is very important, even though it isn't focal. it needs to be defined, so define it! :)

(chiaroscuro is nice in many situations, but you've still got to define the figure)

v ery good job on the tones the ear is a little strange but then again i dont know what you look like quite beautifull if this is realistic :)

the ear is a bit strange. But overall it looks pretty good. I like it. :)

thanks, I will work into it tomorrow with that in mind. I had been working on it for so long I really think I need some other people's views to show where I'm slightly out in my technique. :)
